What is a veneer?

What does the process of getting veneers involve?

Once you and your dentist have agreed that veneers are right for you the process involves removing a tiny amount of the enamel surface of the teeth to be treated (the same thickness as the veneer to be applied). This may require a local anaesthetic to numb the area but is not always necessary. Your dentist will take an impression of the tooth or teeth that is then sent to a dental laboratory where the veneers will colour matched and custom made.

Do veneers match the natural colour of teeth?

At your next visit your dentist will check the veneer for fit and shade so it will appear as natural as possible before it is bonded permanently in place. At this point your dentist will “fine tune” the shape of the teeth that will have the veneer to ensure the best possible fit.

How long do veneers last?

Veneers should last for many years but can get damaged and repaired just like real teeth.
